Peaceful Deer - Anything But a Card Blog Hop

Oh What Fun Prancing Deer Treat Box

It's so fun sometimes to make something other than a card. I created this treat box for one of my quick and fun projects at a recent in person Stamp Party so I thought it would also be perfect to feature as my post in this "Anything But A Card" Crafty Collaborations Blog Hop. I'm sure you will find some great inspiration from the several talented Stampin' Up! demonstrators participating in this hop!

I started out with a piece of the KRAFT 6" x 6" (15.2 x 15.2 cm) PAPER. I used directions I found on an old blog post from Sam Hammond Donald's "Pootles" blog.

Here are the paper and scoring dimensions:
Paper = 6" × 6" (15.25 x 15.25 cm)
1. Score on one side at 1", 2-3/4", 3-3/4", 5-1/2″ (2.5, 7, 9.5, 14 cm)
2. Turn. Score on the opposite side at 1", 4-1/2", 5-1/2″ (2.5, 11.5, 14 cm
3. Cut out notch and cut up to bottom score line as shown.

Next is the pattern I created for this treat box:

  • To decorate the treat box I used a 3" x 6" (7.5 x 15.2 cm) piece of PAINTED CHRISTMAS Designer Series Paper to wrap around the assembled box.
  • The "Oh What Fun" deer is stamped from the PEACEFUL DEER stamp set using Soft Suede ink and then punched with the DEER BUILDER punch.
  • The LABEL ME LOVELY punch was also used (2 punch outs---one in Real Red and one in Basic White).
  • RED RHINESTONE Basic Jewels were used around the deer.
  • REAL RED MINI RUFFLED RIBBON was tied to a paper clip so the treat box can easily be opened and closed.

Season of Chic - Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop -Autumn

Autumn/Fall is the theme of this month's Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop. As you hop around to all of the participants, I'm sure you will find some great inspiration from several talented Stampin' Up! demonstrators!

    Autumn is my favorite Season

I decided to use the fabulous multi-occasion SEASON OF CHIC Bundle (stamp set and coordinating dies) which is part of the TEXTURE CHIC Suite of products. This suite of products also includes the pretty TEXTURE CHIC Specialty Designer Paper (DSP) and the DISTRESSED GOLD Specialty Paper. With such beautiful products, how can you not make a gorgeous card?

Now I'm going to tell you a couple of tips to get the most of your products.

When you want to mat your DSP with another color---like this DISTRESSED GOLD Specialty Paper---and also use that paper as a layer on another element, be sure to punch out what you need from the layer before attaching your DSP on top.
This gives you optimal use of your paper.

To give your punched focal element a matching layer with the same punch:
    1. take your punched layer and cut it in half in the middle.
    2. attach the top half of your punched piece to the top of your stamped focal punch
    3. attach the bottom half of your punched piece to the bottom of your stamped focal image
Your finished image will look like the one in the close up picture shown below.

To give my card the desired fall season look, I stamped the detailed leaf images in Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. Then I stamped the more solid leaf image in 3 colors---Pumpkin Pie, Soft Succulent and Soft Suede (stamped off once)---on top of the detailed stamped leaf. The leaves were then die cut with the coordinating CHIC Dies.

I embellished my card with EARLY ESPRESSO FAUX SUEDE TRIM (tied in a knot rather than a bow) and the BRUSHED METALLIC DOTS.

Here's a final look at my Autumn-themed card project:
