Paper Crafting Blog Hop - Folded Corners DSP Background

Welcome to our July Paper Crafting Blog Hop featuring products using Designer Series Paper. This hop features a group of talented Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the globe. We have a wide array of fun projects and design styles to share with you for our theme this month so be sure to stop at each of our blogs. You may have arrived from Julia's blog. Didn't she have a lovely project?!

This DSP is SO Flippin' Pretty

I am in love with the HAND-PENNED Designer Series Paper (DSP). I have trouble deciding which side of the paper to use on my cards, so I created this card using a layout that shows off both sides at once. And even better, this gorgeous DSP is currently on sale for the month of July 2021! I added some of the PENNED FLOWERS dies to complete the focal point. Keep reading for some tips I learned when designing this card.

Tip #1:

Lay out your squares so that any directional patterns will not be turned wrong when the  scored the corners are folded. Don't worry about the patterns that have an all over pattern with flowers going many directions. (I cut my squares at 1-3/4" [4.4 cm]).

Tip #2:

Turn your DSP squares diagonally so that they form a diamond on your trimmer (or scoring tool). And line them up precisely and so that you can score evenly at 3/4" [2 cm].

Tip #3

Be very sure you are using the scoring blade, and not the cutting blade on your trimmer. 😊

Tip #4

Flip over the DSP at the score line and glue down the corner to show both sides of the beautiful paper. (This is important to keep the corners folded).

For my card base I decided to use the coordinating HAND-PENNED Memories & More Cards and Envelopes. They are so perfect with this DSP and make your cards look so sharp with the printed envelopes. Also, a beautiful card deserves a beautiful inside.

The list of supplies used to make this card are below the links to this month's blog participants. Be sure to check out every stop in this month's blog hop. You won't want to miss a single project!

Global Vlog Hop - Use Those Paper Scraps!

Global SU Vlog Hop June 30th, 2021 Challenge

For this month's Global Stampin' Up! Vlog Hop, we were challenged to do a video showing creative ways to use paper scraps. This is how I used up some of mine...

    Easy Strip-y Backgrounds

I accumulate A LOT of 1/2" strips when I'm cutting layers for cards. If you do too, this is a great technique to use them up!

For this card I picked some strips from my stash that would go together and mimic a sunset.

Then I used the INSPIRED THOUGHTS bundle (INSPIRED THOUGHTS stamp set and INSPIRING CANOPY dies) to complete my card. Doesn't the black silhouette of the trees look great?!

This picture shows a little peek of the tree theme I continued on the inside to give the card additional interest.

I am loving the trees in INSIPING CANOPY dies, and the die that does the hills really gives the trees extra dimension. Be sure to check out the rest of the dies in this set here. The INSPIRED THOUGHTS stamp set has so many sentiments to choose from---this little "HELLO" is just the tip of what is included in this set. Check out those sentiments out here

Watch my YouTube video to see how I made this card. Click to watch it on YouTube, and be sure to "hop" to the next person in the YouTube description of my video. This is a Global Stampin' Up! Vlog Hop, so continue "hopping" from video to video to see more terrific ways to use your paper scraps (both cardstock and designer series paper)!

These are the supplies I used for my card. They are also included in the "how to" video above, but I'm posting them here also.

I love reading your comments! Please leave me one. Just scroll down to the end of this post.
